The Faraday Museum of Technology is a great place to learn how technology has shaped people's lives throughout the decades.
The Faraday Museum is run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers who all have a passion for history and technology. Many of our volunteers are retired tradespeople and engineers and love to tinker and fix and build things along with sharing their knowledge with our young and older visitors.
Technology doesn't just appear - it evolves over time. The Faraday Museum harnesses this notion and delivers it to visitors in a fun and interactive way.
For example in the home appliance area you'll find a range of ovens dating back to the early 1900s when there was no electricity and coal ranges were used, through to the 1960s basic electrical ovens which most houses had.
The collection is owned by the Hawke's Bay Museums Trust and managed by the Napier City Council.
