Discover the vibrant art adorning the streets of Napier with Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans. Immerse yourself in creativity and ARTivism as you explore over 40 stunning murals throughout the city.
In a collaboration between the PangeaSeed Foundation, Napier City Council, Alternative Arts Initiative, and Resene, Sea Walls brought internationally renowned artists to Napier for two festivals in 2016 and 2017. Napier was the pioneering city in New Zealand to host this initiative and become part of a global movement spanning 15 countries.
Stroll through the CBD and Ahuriri to discover murals that not only enhance Napier's aesthetic but highlight oceanic concerns. From reflections on over-fishing and pollution to statements about climate change, each mural reflects the beauty and fragility of marine ecosystems. Whether you're a visitor or a local, the Sea Walls murals offer an immersive experience in environmental advocacy and creativity.
