Hawkes Bay boosts a vast amount of orchards and vineyards in the area - harvesting pipfruit, stonefruit and grapes - and even the odd vegetable! The main time for seasonal work stretches from February to May each year. No two jobs are the same and can range from being out in the hot summer sun to inside in a pack-house, and everything in-between.
During summer we also notice that local bars and restaurants are often looking for qualified staff, these jobs are generally advertised on SEEK or in our local newspaper 'HB Today'.

Another way to work your way around New Zealand is to sign up with 'Farm Helpers'. These farmers are willing to offer free accommodation and food to visitors in exchange for 4-6 hours work each day on their farm. Farm Helpers has a booklet that you can purchase which lists about 190 farms throughout New Zealand.
