Here are some great activities all conveniently located on Napier's famous Marine Parade. We think this makes a great day out for the whole family and recommend starting your day from the southern end of Marine Parade at the Pump Track and ride along the paved cycleway into Napier taking in all the activities below (you won't need to travel far for a jam packed day of fun).
Need to hire a bike while you're here - we've got you covered with some options below.
Hire your bike before heading down the Marine Parade cycle pathway to the Pump Track - a fun way to start the day. Try your skills, get your rhythm to tackle the gentle bumps, its all about balance.
Jump on your bike and head north into Napier past the beautiful golden girl – our spirt of Napier. Unveiled in late December 1971, the statue represents Napier rising from the ashes after the devastating 1931 earthquake.
Formed in the 1960s, the Sunken Garden on Marine Parade has been described as the parade's 'hidden treasure' because, sited below road level, it offers a sense of serenity and separation from its urban surrounds. The kids will love watching the water wheel, and you won't miss the large white bio-morphic sculpture floating on the water.
Let the kids speed off on their very own roadway, complete with traffic lights and speed bumps. There's also a special fenced area with a cushioned landing for those learning to ride as well as shaded picnic areas.
Back on the cycleway the next couple of kilometers is very scenic. Head out onto the viewing platform and be memorized by the crashing waves. You'll see the Tom Parker Fountain with our local legend Pania tucked in beside.
