Hawke's Bay is a cycling mecca, with fabulous weather and a multitude of fun options to suit any type of visitor.
The ‘Hawke’s Bay Trails’ are one of New Zealand’s 23x Great Ride Experiences, with nearly 200 kilometres of mostly off road scenic trails, passing through vineyards, beside winding rivers, orchards, mountains and the Pacific coastline. They trails are graded easy, with mostly flat terrain and with fantastic attractions along the way, wildlife, great food, and a fantastic all year climate – making it is one of New Zealand’s best all year round cycling destinations.
Mountain bikers of all levels can also experience a diverse range of mountain biking trails for all skill levels from beginners to extreme with the Eskdale Mountain Bike Park, Te Mata Peak, Gum Tree Mountain Bike Park, Wairoa Mountain Bike Park and Yeoman's Track in the Ruahine Forest Park.
We have many well located bike hire and tour companies throughout the region offering a range of services – with hourly, daily and multi day rates – some with transport and accommodation packages included to make cycling in the Bay a breeze.
Come into Napier i-SITE and pick up a free copy of your Hawke's Bay Cycle Trail Map and have a chat with our information consultants – many of whom are keen cyclists themselves – to get tips on where to go and what to see along the way. You can also purchase a $10 temporary pass to the Hawke's Bay Mountain Bike Park at Eskdale from us.
