This is an amazing 2-day introduction to the techniques of sand casting!
In this workshop students learn to use fine casting sand to create and prepare a mould, melt and pour silver into it, as well as clean and finish the cast to make a wearable ring or pendant!
Students can carve jewellery from jewellers wax or use small found objects to press forms into jeweller's casting sand. Sand casting is a low tech way to either create unique pieces or, to create multiple pieces using a "master" pattern.
Ideal for a small scale home workshop, if you're interested in ongoing jewellery making, or... Just an excellent experience for fun, where you also come out with something great to wear and treasure.
Course fees include consumables but not your final metal costs. Students can expect to use $25 - $60 worth of silver.
