Napier left me spellbound and regretful that it took me 29 years to make time to stay there. The beachside is unlike anything I have ever seen, with exquisite buildings on one side of you, and an extremely emotive horizon out to the distance. This photo reminds me of something you'd witness on a 'Pink Floyd' album cover... A wild and moody environment, contrasted with modern art that jumps out of the landscape. Napier captured my imagination, and I can't wait to return there.
About 12 years ago my husband and I cycled from Hamilton to Napier over a week on a summer holiday. We were in our mid fifties. By the time we got to Napier we were exhausted and were looking forward to a relaxing few days off our bikes. We went to the i-SITE and found out that the only B&B left in our price range was way up on the hill so we got back on our bikes and set off and very glad to finally get there. Then it was back and forth each day from high up to down into the city to explore. We also went on a steam train trip to Gisborne. The i-SITE staff were pleasant, helpful and enthusiastic about Napier.
I just wanted to thank you for all your help organising the Chinese delegation of Agricultural Scientists. They were thrilled with their accommodation at Harbour View. We were right assuming they would be delighted to see an ocean! George & Cloe were very welcoming too. And to top off our visit they suggested the local Chinese take-away - which turns out to be the best Chinese food we had on the whole trip. In fact, Napier & Hastings was definitely the highlight for their tour of Australia & New Zealand. I'm glad we left it for last. Also as you suggested Geoff and I had a couple of days off in Rotorua and went to the spa. AH! Magic! Thank you so much for all your help. I really couldn't have done it without you!
When you stay at Kennedy Park TOP 10 Resort you can leap like a jumping bean on the GIANT JUMPING PILLOW . This is what you would call 'air filled fun'! It's a bit like an oversized trampoline where you can all jump together. A fun and healthy way for keeping the kids (and even adults) entertained all day long. Awesome fun! www.kennedypark.co.nz
My daughter and I recently drove down from Auckland for the Steely Dan concert. We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast in Taradale which was accessible to everything. On Friday night we found a lovely Thai restaurant which was fully booked but they will still able to accomodate us. Saturday we lunched at Elephant Hill Winery which had fantasic food and service then our Bed and Breakfast hosts drove us to the show and picked us up afterwards. We also went into the city on Saturday and really enjoyed all the old buildings. Napier we love you and we will definately be back to explore your city. You are so very hospitable. Thank you.!!!!!!!
