Artist Sandra Howlett is currently the Head of Arts at Sacred Heart College Napier and has been teaching Visual Art in the secondary setting for 29 years.
“The words compare and contrast are common synonyms of collate. While all three words mean “to set side by side in order to show differences and likenesses,” collate implies minute and critical inspection in order to note points of agreement or divergence.
However other definitions are appropriate here. This is a literal collation of work produced over the last 2 years and indeed a lighter more informal approach to my other work, which has a darker, heaviness to it. Enjoy the lighter touch of paint, print and collage.”
