Sign up now to join expert printmaking tutor Cate Godwin for a short 4-week evening class course in Collagraph Printmaking.
Collagraphy is a really versatile printing process in which a textured plate is created, inked up and put through a press to create prints on paper.
Cate will carefully guide you through the process of creating plates and printing editions – ideal as Christmas gifts or to frame for your own home. Be prepared to get inky and have a few laughs – all in the beautiful setting of the Francis Bacon Studio at Keirunga Creative Hub.
Different textures on a collagraph plate hold varying amounts of ink and print different tones. The results can vary according to the textures and the application of the ink, so effects can be experimented with, and ‘happy accidents’ can occur – which all adds to the charm of this medium.
Anything with a low relief texture can be stuck down and used to create texture on the plate: wallpaper, recycled packaging, leaves, fabrics, tapes and threads... in fact the options and opportunities for exploration and layering are endless.
This course is suitable for beginners, or those that already have some previous experience.
